about

Complains about consumption, the dissatisfaction thereof.

lyrics

Those new cars they don't stay shiny very long
those cigars don't leave you merry very long
movie stars don't need you when you're hungry

television is violence and product hype
decorative women superficial stereotype
hard hearted evil men and cops in tight pants

2.
newspapers only say what they think is good for them
corporations only say what they think will profit them
you have to only say the truth to get burned

see it in religion desire for authority
see it in politics flaming demagoguery
see it in the military see it in school

3.
blue skies ain't what the future is now offering
disguised holocaust big power is now promising
their lies come in patriotic cover

we can take it back from them there is still democracy
we can make our energy assertion of some sanity
leave them to their all men's clubs we all live here too

about

Tom Ferguson has been writing songs since 1969, all of which are collected in Songs, 1969-2009, which actually continues to ... more grow beyond 2009 - but I like the even number 40 in that title. It's coil-bound to nicely fit a music stand, available at lulu.com just search tom ferguson there. I'm now in process of recording those songs and bunching them in albums on bandcamp. less
