Frilly Lineage
04:50
|
|||
It's not very funny but I think think I'll have a laugh
somehow in the sad array I'll empty out my bath
isn't that a jumbo jet residin inna fire place
in its wake a snappy sermon on somebody's famous face
and up thar on the roof spread wide a canopy of sweets
makes a woman blush deeper when she knows she's gonna meet
off on yon horizon just before the night is done
a looker with fame and fortune guaranteed to be the one
foremost in the frilly lineage standing at the gate
several discouraged bandana sagging cross the freight
and they hoped they weren't too late
2.
in a station wagon with the latest latest emperor's clothes
drivin everybody batty with the speed of a garden hose
all laid out with so many coarse unnatural thoughts
seems like we're going to be wedded to everything we caught
nowhere left to travel since their maps proliferate
besides they reached the ocean with no swimming lesson break
and they hoped they weren't too late
3.
it couldn't happen to a finer hombre of the potted plain
with his happenstance of cookery entitled like a hurricane
listening line for jitter bugs and eggs droppin in the beer
together at last and finally the happy sappy ending near
so turning back what could they do but westward steer the crate
ol' Mississippi soon stood barrier so they took to questionin fate
and they hoped they weren't too late

Permanent Procedure

Porcupine protection from protruding particle
titles titillate too tender touching miracle
servers sent such saintly spies to soviet pretense
pertinent performance patterns probably are spent
it could have been an oversight mistaking mockery
for sycophantic flowing forth flowered flattery
be that as it may we stand on this exalted plane
pandering a perfect patron planetary frame
pandering a perfect patron planetary frame
2.
Patton had a portion of the porridge that was poured
tea too was on tap for two tenors from the tour
others gave their covers to the mothers to control
who naturally need their nightly nip in nuministic patrol
it could have been an oversight mistaking mockery
for sycophantic flowing forth flowered flattery
be that as it may we stand on this exalted plane
pandering a perfect patron planetary frame
pandering a perfect patron planetary frame
3.
Cyndia sent a sailor so semantically sober
delivering directions due to dampen Dundee's door
received relentless rapping ruling roaring out to run
standing sometimes singing seldom certain of the one
it could have been an oversight mistaking mockery
for sycophantic flowing forth flowered flattery
be that as it may we stand on this exalted plane
pandering a perfect patron planetary frame

Protection
03:42
|
|||
Cobra and Cheetah way in the distance Coyote might come for the pet
burglar and vandal sometimes a nuisance
occasional mugger disturbing effect
but mostly the gates keep'em off site
the streets well patrolled especially at night
we got us protection pristine and safe
we got us protection secure in our faith
2.
the national borders guarded but porous enemy agents creep by
they aim to abuse us more or less confuse us
sowing discord, disruption and lies
they're out of their home zone out of their depth
our strategy's canny certain to intercept
we got us protection pristine and safe
we got us protection secure in our place
3.
the light is slow in coming this dawn the night seems like it will stay
all notions of order suddenly gone
the executioner's hour just before day
a concept as needed arises in time
to keep us from slippin into decline
we got us protection pristine and safe
we got us protection secure in our faith

She Sez
03:27
|
|||
Melissa asks clever elevator questions designed to nudge a re-think
outside habitual orbit she hands out printer's ink
how's your health sez the turkey she sez
how's the earth sez the goat she sez
how're the farm animals today she sez and she sez
the hospital is visited less frequently when
your lunch comes not from critter sufferin
earth is fouled with feces methane released
hogs pollute the water table that needs to be leashed
calves interned where they cannot turn
and cows pigs ducks chickens birds fish rudely torn
outta their comfort zone outta their comfort zone
conscience seems absent animals on their own
and soil is blown away she sez and sky is sourly filled she sez
what goes around comes around sez she
what needs to stay inna ground she sez
is pumped and sold and burnt she sez
the way of thinking here she sez is somewhere below dysfunctional
seeing us selves as separate is fear at odds and so desperate
reason speaks interconnection the heart even more in that direction
proof truth proof truth

Random Rifle Fire
03:47
|
|||
What would you think if I visited your neighborhood tonight
we'd head out for the pub and tip a few while lookin for a fight
well I know you know I'm not serious what a kidder I can be
you know I'd rather do coffee and listen to your poetry
but ever once in awhile I have a fantasy
out in the western badlands pot-shotting at posse
or wading in jungle bog bayonet in my teeth
stalking another person designated enemy
scoping from a tower random rifle fire
plant plastic explosive tied tight to trip wire
there's something awfully dreadful running through our age
lingering from last century ferocious karmic rage
2.
what if someone galloped up on rearing quarter horse
to escort you in mode arrest to dungeon fascist force
and in that dark damp dreary cell you'd wonder wherefore art
precious habeas corpus and the right to chase your star
ever once in awhile I have a fantasy
laying serious siege to entrenched authority
across moat ladder climb swingin singin sword
against a shield so greater than even the mighty word
strutting as the victor prisoners envy dead
survey conquered land arrogance wraps my head
there's something awfully dreadful running through our age
lingering from last century ferocious karmic rage
you know I'd rather do coffee and listen to your poetry

We Are Many
03:42
|

Down a blacktop road to Orwell's farm
tryin to persuade them to do no harm
clouds of pesticides always in the air
poisoning the valley and the live things there
hope they leave their shotgun pegged above the shelf
they're know to be impatient with persons like myself
they didn't reach the shotgun but somethin just as rough
that damnable attorney who really knows his stuff
he stood there without empathy and read us to the law
I would have preferred anger to what it is I saw
we backed away in conference we stood against the wall
a firing squad might have been an easier way to fall
the county is a dead zone ever since they came
they bought the politicians who smooth and grease their way
whatever you wanna call it ya know the wealthy rule
let's put our heads together we are many they are few
2.
steppin up the stair to judge Hoffman's court
didn't have much hope for our cause of course
maneuvers in the court room tricksters at their art
we pleaded for the life but we didn't reach the heart
the judge didn't look said justice is blind
the creatures in the valley they thought that was unkind
an elder tale is what I tell
thoughout our history the demons of hell
hypnotize the people loot integrity
deliver a scapegoat seduce selectively
that twisted oppressive ignoble occupation
lashes at a rising tide resents the competition
the county is a dead zone ever since they came
they bought the politicians who smooth and grease their way
whatever you wanna call it ya know the wealthy rule
let's put our heads together we are many they are few

where it goes when ya stand up thas where it be a long time
thas where it stay thas right well, actually not in time outta that
someplace else hard to say oh someplace else hard to say oh
thas a fact
yet and still there's good times to be had
here in the nowhere place yas and bad
there's music gots to be music singin
dancin that's just gotta be happenin
else whatta we for oh whatta we for
and helpin make equal yas wattya think and sane and safe
food security shelter edgecashun and health

saw the greatest cities eloquent hotels
mingled with VIPs pushin some hard sell
the pool was cool and we all had a gas
a coalition brimmin with ambition verve and class
before I could notice the whole enchilada passed
3.
sat me in an office takin makin calls
chasin that money tryin so hard to get it all
on occasion I knew to compromise
bendin over backwards tellin a few white lies
the pool was cool and we all had a gas
a coalition brimmin with ambition verve and class
before I could notice the whole enchilada passed
4.
Afghanistan needs burly patriots like me
guns willl make the peace last long past enemies
and since we're here so busy may as well make the best
skim off some stuffed bundles warlord cash
5.
they're lined up unsuspecting moo-ing they're so dumb
sometimes ya have to nudge'em with a stun gun
so many per minute cut and stripped and ground
translates into plenty profit per pound
the pool was cool and we all had a gas
a coalition brimmin with ambition verve and class
before we could notice the whole enchilada passed
6.

Oblivious
03:44
|
|||
It's just me ain't it obvious this ol' gambler ain't that devious
gossip takes it all so serious but when it comes to dealing I'm oblivious
in the town in my packard I used to be a gent
got the attention of who to impress
had some foldin money enough to seem like more
spent it all by payday usually well before
had to exit early a little trouble with the law
hid out on the south side 'till the winter had its thaw
slipped back in one summer night feelin out the climate
all was well the sheriff retired clicked my heels and said
It's just me ain't it obvious this ol' gambler ain't that devious
gossip takes it all so serious but when it comes to dealing I'm oblivious
at the airport I'm dropped off my driver knows the way
off to convention on the circus that they say
is comin to town tired humorless clowns
ridiculous numbers in a volkswagon lost not found
the info was outdated the clowns already left
filled up bags and pockets with a practice known as theft
didn't seem to matter we surely got away
nothin left but home to wait for payback day
It's just me ain't it obvious this ol' gambler ain't that devious
gossip takes it all so serious but when it comes to dealing I'm oblivious

Past Time
02:50
|
|||
If you want to outlast and never go past
no way for it but forget it and laugh
ya wanna be noticed stand out in the crowd
if ya wanna be POTUS ya gotta be loud
when ya finally get it guilt and regret
you walked right over victims stepped on and left
they simmer and steam out there lookin for a fight
leavin you wonderin maybe stones are in flight
whatever ya did when ya did it somehow
didn't matter then doesn't matter now
2.
If you want long life with no end on the end
no way for it but drop it or pretend
at the height of hypocrisy wallow in your power
lord it all over those lower in the order
forks in the road this is a forkfull
how much can you shovel how much can you pull
as far out as it seems we might manage to survive
make nice with the others the strangers who arrive
whatever ya did when ya did it somehow
didn't matter then doesn't matter now
