about

These Free Listening songs are from the mid 90s, three of them are self-reflective, six examine social issues and there's one odd love song, bordering on stalking. I participated in the U.S. invasion of Vietnam in my naive youth but didn't write a song about it until 1996.

Tweaking the original musical structure I added bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, sometimes keyboards and usually laid down drums first thing, though with songs in 3/4 time I've left off drums. There are multi-trak vocals with my unschooled version of harmony.

Not sure it's obvious from here that i'm archiving the songs i've written since 1969 mostly in the order written (except for the first 2-3 albums), a satisfying and nostalgic project, reviewing the past and using that as point of departure for current recording creativity. They're mostly mid-tempo and fairly mellow with the fuzz guitar coming out on a couple.

The cover image is one of a series of charcoal drawing I did about the same mid-90s.
