about

My Mom died in 2005, all her children gathered 'round the bed. One of those moments that have to be written about. I had written one when my Father died in 1990 also, on an earlier album. There's a line in another song, The Preacher, that takes off from Ecclessiastes, about generations coming & going…. after your parents go it's, "…and look who's next." The song's called Somebody Died on that same album, Quarks & Quazars.

lyrics

no coffee no rolls no letters no phone
no one in that empty chair we wonderin just where

oh Nanny where'd you go oh nanny we worried so
oh Nanny we miss you oh nanny see you soon

2.
no grandchildren peek-aboo no cousins visiting you
no holiday family no praise-song to hear you sing

oh Nanny where'd you go oh nanny we worried so
oh Nanny we miss you oh nanny see you soon

3.
ol' Craig street driveway apple tree in summer breeze sway
fresh snowfall blanket of white birds in your window morning light

oh Nanny where'd you go oh nanny we worried so
oh Nanny we miss you oh nanny see you soon
