In Hawaii, just started strumming & these words came along. The Bush/Kerry debates were happening with Kerry playing the lesser evil and the population once again voting against their own interests, unable to see thru transparent lies, hornswaggled by the usual false patriotism and macho posturing. But the song only mentions this in passing, much more concerned with self reflection and strategies of awareness, of being and of mortality.
