about

Re-occuring is the line about Martha singing baby songs, providing the title and a refuge as well as a tribute to my Mom. I was reading Gary Zukav at the time and was taken with his ideas about consciousness. Later I found Eckhart Tolle's more elegant teachings but Zukav, along with others, helped sustain me until Tolle came along. It always fascinates me the way a song emerges. Many artists have commented on how we witness rather than cause this birthing.

lyrics

Melvin made a million had a mansion by the sea
greed and jealousy
Martha sings her baby songs in the morning love and trust

2.
Ronnie stalks the coffee shop
with a stage fright you can see inferiority
Emily looks up from her paragraph love and trust

refrain:

Sidney his SUV bumper in your mirror
someone hurting someone in a prison cell and being hurt
rage and revenge
violence is to justice as anger is to pain

3.
Tommy took a do-o-nut to feed anxiety
melancholia
Martha sings her baby songs in the afternoon love and trust

4.
Dina stood to knock on wood to protect her misery
fear and doubt
Martha sings her baby songs in the evening love and trust

Martha sings her baby songs in the morning love and trust
