about

I spent 18 weeks in South Georgia doing an artist's residency. I noticed the business sections of these little towns were dying, all the restaurants etc; moved over near the freeway. It seemed like a good image for the standard melancholy of a lot of country music, which this seemed to me to be, with maybe a little tongue in cheek.

lyrics

I feel like the boarded up bank over in downtown
just too far away from the highway skirtin the town
there's nothin to do since nobody comes through but some train
it doesn't even slow it just flies with the flowin refrain

chorus:
everything's changing that is
nothin forever can live

2.
I feel like the matter in a broken down ladder just a stage prop
so tired of leanin in a scene without meaning on the backdrop
it's true that the walls and the windows are false it's a shame
yet the soloist is showing a transparent flowing refrain - chorus

3.
I feel like the bottom of an ancient Greek column on Mythos
for all of my history there's no one to miss me on the east coast
there's nothin so sad as a grave in the land with no name
it's a daily unfolding a terminal flowing refrain - chorus
