about

I did some two artist exhibits with Steve Seaberg and one of them was at an art center on St. Simon's Island. We spent a few days there and I went down to collect the show afterwards. Ronnog was along on the first leg and we all spent some beach time. We visited them in Chicago too when they were closing out Steve's Mom's estate. Been friends for since early 80s I think. Anyway, somewhere along the way I wrote this song to honor two Atlanta artists willing to take chances. I started playing something and I thought, hey, that sounds like that old song, Frankie and Johnny were lovers... then the words came as below.

lyrics

Ronnog and Stevens were lovers so naturally they moved to the south
they were yankee liberal bohemians didn't know no status quo
they were color blind didn't know black from white

2.
Ronnog picked the words right up out of the air
put'em in a basket of books
but they didn't lay there no they kinda sang there
a song of Atlanta singin for we singin for we

3.
Stevens was a sculptor a sculptor of the flesh
made his flesh of wood and wire
put his finger to the metal of everything skeletal
of humor and mortality singin for we singin for we - repeat 1. then,

Ronnog and Stevens were lovers
