about

I noticed a spider in a web, awaiting its prey and it struck me as somehow cruel and just as I thought this an insect appeared and snatched the spider and was gone. I realized I needed a little distance to accept the order of things.

Ann Rand and her followers project this onto the human sphere but they are wrong in that in the natural world there is a balance, a sort of justice, but in the world they project there is a domination of the most ruthless, a dysfunction, not balance. The fear behind this world view comes out of the mistaken belief that we are separate, isolated, vulnerable beings when in fact we exist in an interconnected world of breathtaking beauty. So I threw in a little trumpet, the voice of God by tradition,... not the god of fear but the God of Joy.

lyrics

I chanced upon a spider's web
as many have before
a winged thing there was struggling
to free itself once more

2.
the spider was approaching
to secure her catch she came
to spread her thread about the thing
resisting now in vain

3.
I wanted so to rescue
the spider answered no
what right have you to interfere
my dinner's getting cold
