about

I was chording C D G on the piano, over and over, sort of meditating, when my cat wandered by, looked up at me and went to the window where she liked to hang out. So I added words about two cats but later, after my daughter and her cousins were getting to know each in their infancy and on, creating that family bond, I switched over from cats to cousins.

Tacked on after The Kids is another song I used to fool around and amuse daughter. She would always join in after I sang the line white cap motion with the different colored motions and throw out an impish laugh. She was at the beach with Grandmama once and used the term white cap motion and Grandmama looked at her as if she were the original precocious child.

lyrics

Melanie sat on the window sill and her brother Nathaniel
traveled south with Nicolas took a flat in New Orleans

chorus: and they sure looked good in the window (after each verse)

2.
they took their tea in the mornin their chess in the afternoon
they read by the fire in the evening and they passed the winter that way

3.
Cole and Carl came for breakfast they watched the morning news
they wandered the streets 'till the sun went down
and they played their music all night

4.
Kallio joined them for Mardi Gras and she sang her tuesday song
she danced with her cousins on the balcony of the hotel Viva la France

Red Truck

Red truck in the driveway blue horse in the grass
green ducks in the skyway hippopotamus in the path
mama says to baby let's go to the ocean
we'll sit by the seashore watch the white cap motion
watch the purple cap motion, watch the red cap motion,
watch the yellow cap motion
