I went down to Georgia I got a chance to see
every man the Klu Klux Klan ever strung from a tree
I listened to the poor dark fellas
standin in the coal black night
couldn't understand why the god damned man
wouldn't let them in the gate

lived in little places on the outskirts
didn't have a where to go
couldn't get in cause the white man's sin
was standin in the road
along came a leader called Jackson warrior from the east
couldn't understand why a proud black man
would want to get in the gate
