about

I was on Tybee Island, in an elderly, charming but musty Art Nouveau motel, since replaced. Retained the name though, the Desoto Inn. Our room was on the second floor, had an extra room with curved windows facing the beach, kind of wintery, my favorite beach time. Strumming the old guitar the wait a minute line kept coming to me but nothing else. I saved it and maybe ten years later used it in this song.

lyrics

Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
I don't even know your name I might need another day

1.
I had a fantastic fantasy when I was younger in Spain
moon-risen vista on the edge of the sea
awakening held us again

Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute

2.
onto encounter with subsequent days
with and without good fortune
morning preceded by another night
brief and long shadowed afternoons

Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute

3.
one midnight a scary apparition
appeared to my desperate mind
in truth she was really not listening
to my pleading for more time

Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute
I don't even know your name I might need another day
